Mercy Pediatric

In 2021, BUF team members designed an innovative Mercy Pediatric Emergency Room with a compact footprint, prioritizing efficiency and functionality. The expansion included 11 pediatric exam bays, with two specially tailored to meet the needs of children requiring mental health care. The flexible layout accommodates fluctuations in patient volume and staffing. Additional amenities include a welcoming main entry with a modern canopy, a streamlined reception and registration area, and separate adult and pediatric waiting rooms to foster a more comfortable and supportive environment for patients and their families.

Built to reflect Mercy’s brand standards, the new facility introduced a contemporary architectural style. The striking new entrance features a transparent glass curtainwall, offering a warm and inviting aesthetic in contrast to the darker glazing of the connected existing structure. This thoughtful design creates a signature identity for Mercy’s pediatric emergency department, underscoring its commitment to exceptional care.

The design team implemented a meticulously planned phasing sequence to ensure uninterrupted operation of services throughout the construction process, demonstrating a dedication to minimizing disruption while delivering this transformational facility.
